Eureko Asigurari raises capital by 6%

Dutch-based Eureko BV said it had raised Eureko Asigurari’s capital by 8.5 million lei to 162.13 million lei by issuing 8,949,780 new shares at a face value of 1leu, according to a decision made in September and published in the Official Gazette.
Prior to the capital hike, Eureko Asigurari’s common capital was around 153.18 million lei.
Majority shareholder Eureko BV subscribed to the placement and paid around €2.1 million, the equivalent of 8.95 million lei, while Achmea Holding NV paid €28, the equivalent of 119 lei, according to the addendum published in the Official Gazette.
After the capital hike, Eureko BV is in control of 99.99868% of the share capital, while Achmea Holding NV has an interest of 0.00132%.
Dutch-based financial group Eureko had announced in July 2009 it would raise the capital of its subsidiaries in Romania by €25 million - €12.6 million in fresh equity for the insurance business and the remaining €12.4 million in private pension sector.
In Romania, the group is present through Eureko Asigurari and Eureko –Societate de Administrare a Fondurilor de Pensii Private.
Midday Forex: Leu picks up strength

The EUR/RON reference rate set by the National Bank of Romania fell 0.1% today from 4.1679lei/euro a day earlier, as the leu traded in a narrow range, with a modest upside trend versus its European peer.
Yesterday, the central bank set a reference rate of 4.1721 lei/euro.
In the morning the leu traded near 4.1610 and 4.1710.
Emerging currencies in the region traded with no clear direction in the morning. The Polish zloty wavered between 4.10 and 4.1160zloty/euro. The forint gained in the morning from 269.80 to 268.70 forints/euro but fell afterward to 269.25 forints/euro.
Versus the US dollar, the leu was quoted at 2.9143 at the reference rate set by the NBR, up 0.19% from 2.9089 lei/dollar yesterday.

KD Life Insurances hikes capital by 6pc

Shareholders of KD Life Insurances have agreed on October 30 to raise capital by 2.36 million lei to 40.85 million lei, according to a decision published in the Official Gazette.
Prior to the capital hike, KD Life’s equity was around 38.48 million lei.
The move will raise KD Group’s exposure to the local company to 95.1202%. KD Zivljenje holds 4.8798% stake.
KD Life Insurance SA has received authorization for conduction insurance operations in Romania in May 2006, and at the end of 2008, it reported gross premiums written of 6.648 million lei and a market share of 0.36% in local life insurance sector.

Dacia lifts lid on its first concept, Duster

This year, Dacia premiered the new Duster, whose lines preview the 4x4 model that is due to go on sale in 2010, the company said.
According to Patrick Lechapy, design director Amont Renault, Dacia will continue the expansion of its Duster lineup after the launch of the SUV planned for 2010.
Both the 4x2 and 4x4 versions of Dacia Duster will be available with either a 1.6 16V 110hp petrol engine or with 85 dCi or 105 dCi diesel power. The car measures 4.31 metres in length and 1.82 metres.
Around 150,000 Dacia Duster could come off the assembly line in Romania, while the maximum production capacity at the carmaker’s facilities in Brazil in Russia could roll out up to 100,000 and 80,000 cars, said Gerard Detourbet, Renault's entry programme vice-president.
Dacia will bring the new 4x2 and 4x4 versions of Duster in Europe, Turkey, Algeria and Morocco in spring next year and in June 2010 under Renault brand in Ukraine, Middle East and Africa.
Duster is the sixth vehicle in the Dacia range, after Logan, Sandero and Logan MCV, plus Logan van and Logan pick-up.
New car sales sink 53% in Jan-Nov

New car sales fell 53% in the eleven months through November this year, to 121,931, from 257,852 in the same period of last year, according to data provided by APIA.
In November, Dacia sales fell to 2,592 cars corresponding to a market share of 26.5%. After the first eleven months, Dacia car maker has a share of 30.4% of total sales in Romanian car industry.
Imported car sales dropped 30% to 7,189 from 10,202 cars.
In the 11month period through November, Dacia takes the leading position with a market share of 30.4% and 37,016 cars sold, followed by Hyundai with a share of 8.3% and 10.104 cars sold, Volkswagen with 7.1% and 8,680 cars, Renault with 6.9% share and 8,381 cars and Skoda with 6.7% share and 8,221 cars sold.
New car sales in Romania fell 55% in Jan-Nov period, to around 140,000, from over 300,000 in the year-ago period.
Car production increased by 13% year-on-year, buoyed by Dacia’s exports that rose 56%.
Sixt New Kopel takes over as Chery dealer

Sixt New Kopel that offers operating leasing and car rental services has signed in July a partnership with Chery Automobile, China’s largest car maker, and thus became the exclusive dealer of the brand in Romania.
The distribution will kick off as soon as the cars will receive the homologation certificate in line with the European Union regulation.
Sixt New Kopel recorded a turnover of €12 million and had a market share of 40%. In 2009, the company plans to increase car fleet by 50% from 2008.
The operating leasing and rent-a-car company Sixt New Kopel, part of the Israeli-based Shlomo, holds 25-30% of the rent-a-car market in Romania, with a car fleet of 575 cars.
AutoItalia becomes official dealer of Infiniti in Romania
AutoItalia that has dealerships selling Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ssang Yong, Maserati and Segway in Romania took over as official dealer of Infiniti.
This year, the company launched the new Infiniti G37 Cabrio, at a starting price of €51,300.
AutoItalia sells Infiniti G37 sedan, G37 Coupe, G37 cabrio and EX 37 and FX 50 SUVs. Prices range between €44,000 and €73,000.
The importer expects its full-year sales to stand around 100 cars.
The reference exchange rate continues to grow
The reference exchange rate continued to advance by 0.47 percent and reached 4.2296 lei per euro, recovering to the level of mid-December, following the liquidity injected yesterday by the central lender BNR.
BNR reported a reference level of 4.2099 lei per euro in the previous session, NewsIn states.
The leu declined in the first part of the day, from 4.22 to 4.23 per euro, evolution unlinked to the other emergent currencies in the region, which gained ground on Wednesday.
Romania's central bank yesterday pumped 9.47 billion lei on the market through a repo operation maturing on January 4 2010, pushing the interests closer to the monetary policy rate.
For the U.S. dollar, the exchange rate settled by BNR climbed 0.94 percent to 2.9467 lei per dollar, from 2.9192 in the previous session.
On the international markets, the U.S. dollar waved between 1.4306 and 1.4360 per euro.
Overnight interests lowered to 8-10 percent a year, but still stand above the key interest rate of 8 percent a year.

Loans 30 days past due of natural persons increased in October by 6.25% to 2.55 billion lei (€593.6 million), from 2.4 million lei in September, according to data provided by the National Bank of Romania.
Compared to early 2009, households’ overdue loans increased 2.6 times to 981.2 million on December 31, 2008.
Broken down by lending currency, the largest share of loans past due were given in national currency, worth 1.62 billion lei at the end of October, while loans 30 days past due totalled 800 million lei. Loans 90 days past due totalled 2 billion lei.
The number of borrowers in default fell slightly in October, for the first time in seven months, to 645,201 households, from 648, 970 at the end of September.
The number of bad debtors increased constantly in Apr-Sept period, after falling by 4,300 households in March, to 511,207
